Submission to the ACT Standing Committee on Education, Training and Youth Affairs’ Inquiry into the Accommodation Needs of Tertiary Education Students in the ACT, July 2011

The Youth Coalition commends the Committee for seeking discussion regarding the very important issue of the accommodation needs of tertiary students in the ACT, particularly in light of both the State and Commonwealth Government’s commitment to continuing education for young people. The Youth Coalition, in formulating our response to the Paper, consulted with some key stakeholders in the tertiary student accommodation arena. The Youth Coalition participated in consultation with individuals, including university students, and this process was augmented by feedback from other youth support services, as well as some research completed by the author of this response.
