Young people aged 12-15 years not only represent a significant proportion of the ACT population but also the emerging future and possibilities for Canberra and Territory. Youth is a life phase that exemplifies opportunities for transformation, growth and new and exciting futures. However, this phase offers complex challenges and marks a period of vulnerability for young people as they navigate inequalities and disadvantages that manifest across generations. As the representative body for young people, youth workers and their interests, the Youth Coalition believes that the 2018-19 ACT Budget does little to address the most prominent issues that they face.
